Outdoor Learning
Outdoor Learning at Penrhyn School
Outdoor learning is a vital aspect of primary education and often provides the most memorable learning experiences.
The outdoor environment has massive potential for providing learning opportunities. We are currently developing our outdoor area and have recently developed a bug hotel, pond and acquired a gazebo within the school grounds.
Within Foundation Phase, we aim to provide outdoor activities on a daily basis with a focus morning once a week where all children participate in activities outdoors whatever the weather!! We have recently been given an outdoor writing shed to encourage independent writing within the outdoor environment. Activities include mini beast hunts, outdoor storytelling, mud kitchen, outdoor music and planting. These ideas are being developed within Key Stage 2. We aim to use the local environment around the school to enhance our outdoor curriculum.
